Story
The Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF) is a locally based not-for-profit that is an entirely funded by the local community. Thanks to the local support of the Hunter, HBCF provides essential services to families as they journey through breast cancer. These services include everything from a wig library, private transport, cleaning and lawn maintenance, education scholarships and more.
Our clients are local Hunter families who are currently going through treatment for Breast and Ovarian Cancer. The Newcastle community has rallied around HBCF and run fun and successful community fundraisers for over 20 years to fund these programs. However when COVID-19 hit, these all stopped. The need for breast cancer support only grew. We now have more family requesting support than ever before.
We need your help!
During the month of July 2021, HBCF provided 338 support services to Hunter families battling breast cancer, this cost over $30,000. All funds raised go in and straight back out again. Every little bit counts to help HBCF continue to support our Hunter families.
Set yourself (or team) a fitness goal, make a commitment and start raising much needed funds! The beauty of this is you can continue to support HBCF while staying COVID safe, you'll be raising funds for Hunter breast cancer families while keeping active and smashing goals!
Challenge Ideas: Walk, run, skate, scoot, swim or ride a certain distance in a month or per day, 100 push-ups, squats, pull ups, any exercise every day, get a team together and set a kilometer challenge to reach together. The options are endless! Set a goal and make a commitment for one month, a fortnight or even a week - your fundraiser means YOUR COMMITMENT so you choose what you would like to do!
You don't have to but you can even connect your Strava Fitness Tracking App to your fundraising page to keep your supporters updated with photos, map routes, distance, time duration etc. to share your challenge journey. The great part is it's so easy to link together! For more information on how to link your Strava App to your fundraising page contact us at fundraising@hbcf.org.au
So hit the pavement (or the water). And do it for local families who really need your help.
Every dollar raised will go towards helping Hunter locals.
