Story
Regenerate is taking on Two Massive Challenges in 2019: Paddles and Saddles.
Funds raised will change young peoples lives on the Roehampton and Putney estates. Regenerate regularly works with over 350 young people providing life changing positive activities and safe spaces in an area experiencing high levels of child poverty, hopelessness, addiction, violence and crime. Serious youth violence and knife crime are big contemporary issues and have made headlines across the country. This is just one symptom of the poverty that young people face on the estates where we are living and working.
Our projects include youth club activities providing sports, healthy cooking, music and games; as well as mentoring and volunteering opportunities. We also create job opportunities and training for unemployed young people through our social enterprise and leadership development programmes.
Starting in 2018, we have developed Regenerate Journeys providing challenges for young people and our supporters to push beyond their comfort zones, gain leadership skills and develop growth mindsets to realise their potential. Together we will overcome huge challenges, learn from one another and raise money to fund life changing projects on the estates.
This year, Regenerate Journeys will include both paddles and saddles.
The Source to the Sea - The Great River Thames Challenge
We will be kayaking from the source of the River Thames all the way to the Sea. Starting at Cricklade, the team will kayak over 215 miles through Reading, Oxford, Windsor, Putney, and Westminster, ending at Southend pier. This gruelling journey will take ten days hard kayaking to travel from the source of the River Thames to the North Sea.
London to the Pyrenees
In July we will be cycling over 600 miles from London to the Pyrenees mountains in just 9 days. The ride will take in the length of France and ends with us cycling one of the toughest mountain stages of the 2019 Tour de France. This will see us attempt to climb the mighty Col du Tourmalet, 18.6km of steep French mountain reaching a gradient of 13.5%!
Please consider sponsoring us on these challenges. 100 percent of money raised goes directly to support young people in our projects by providing positive activities and mentoring relationships.
