We help heal the past and provide stability, creating bright futures for girls. We are caring for girls like Celeste, who came to Pace Palm Beach two years ago and needs our help more than ever.
My name is Celeste and I have been a student at Pace Center for Girls Palm Beach for two years. I was born in the country of Honduras. When I was three years old, my mom received an opportunity to come to the United States. I stayed in Honduras and for a long time I didn't speak with her. I moved around from home to home. When I was in sixth grade, I moved to the United States to live with my mom. I came to America not knowing a single word of English. I felt completely alone.
I started attending school and in just one year I was able to learn and speak English. I had good grades, but my mom and I started fighting. We bumped heads for a while and when I started high school things became worse. I started skipping school, getting into trouble, and my grades began to decline. My mom decided we needed help and that's when she found Pace Palm Beach. I didn't like the idea of going to Pace in the beginning because it was an all-girl school. It felt like such a drastic change. Today, I feel as if attending Pace is the best decision, we've ever made for me. With the help of my counselor, my mom and I have developed a much stronger relationship. Through the Reach program, I have a therapist that checks in with me weekly. Because of Pace, I can potentially graduate an entire year early or wait and participate in dual enrollment - those are things I never thought would be possible before Pace!
Our girls depend on Pace to provide stability in their lives. This continues to be our number one priority and now, more than ever, WE NEED YOUR HELP.
