On May 5th, 2012, Jenny Rayner and her family faced an unimaginable tragedy when their daughter, Lucy, took her own life at just 22 years old.
This heart-wrenching event motivated Jenny and her family to become tireless advocates for mental health awareness, particularly focusing on the challenges young adults face. They quickly realised the glaring gaps in resources and funding for identifying and addressing mental health issues in this age group.
Jenny’s passion for change resonated with many, and with her extensive experience—over 30 years in marketing, media, and event management—she was uniquely equipped to take action and make a real difference. This determination gave rise to The Lucy Rayner Foundation.
The Lucy Rayner Foundation is a mental health charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families through initiatives such as:
- Weekly Support Groups
- Suicide Bereavement Services
- Mental Health Training
- Monthly Coffee Mornings
Additionally, the charity provides six free counseling sessions for young adults aged 14 to 39 and offers vital support to those struggling with mental health challenges.
Every £35 donation covers one free counseling session for a young person in urgent need of help. Fundraising is vital to sustaining these efforts. Earlier this year, we demonstrated just how crucial these events are to the lives we touch.
Together, we can continue to honor Lucy’s legacy and help countless young adults on their mental health journey. Thank you for your support!
