The Goal

This year, we have an ambitious goal to raise $20,000 on Giving Tuesday to meet the rising demands of the Chicago communities we serve in 2023.

During the start of the school year, OWLS Lacrosse was able to get back in the game in a major way. We've been able to expand our outreach through new growth partnerships with Chicago Public Schools at Hamline Elementary, Plamondon STEM Elementary, and Herzl School of Excellence. We built out a powerhouse team dedicated to our mission, deploying two new program managers including Matt Wegh and Ciera Smith to support the facilitation and execution of OWLS programming.

Our expanded corporate partnership with Dicks Sporting Goods allowed OWLS Academy Scholars to get invaluable real-life job exposure during a career exploration day where students shadowed employees, gained knowledge of the sales process from company leaders, and put their learnings to work on the showroom floor! Huge shout-out to "Coach Aly" Myers for leading this invaluable partnership.

Academy Scholars are currently enrolled at the following high schools: Chicago Hope Academy, De La Salle Institute, DRW College Prep, Lane Tech High School, Loyola Academy, Mount Carmel High School, Saint Ignatius College Prep, Steinmetz College Prep, and UIC College Prep.

It takes a huge effort from business leaders, school administrators, parents, and people who love our great city to make this impact. This collective effort can be seen in OWLS student-athletes, who have navigated stress, explored new ideas and healthy choices, and athletically risen to every challenge, barrier, and setback, all to leave a better world in their wake.
