Ouzbeck’s Legacy Lorry –
The purchase of a horse lorry and its associated costs
It is with great sadness that we recently announced the loss of Ouzbeck to colic.
21 year old Ouzbeck retired to Greatwood over 10 years ago. Throughout his time with us he was a valuable contributor to all the educational programmes and has helped many children and young people realise their potential. He also acted as our ambassador on many occasions. Through our partnership with Newbury Racecourse, he attended numerous race meetings and was always impeccably behaved and admired by all.
Supported by Retraining of Racehorses, Ouzbeck attended Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee celebrations in Marlborough and was also a regular visitor to care homes in Wiltshire where he brightened up so many lives. His loss will be felt by young and old alike.
Currently Greatwood does not own a horse lorry but thanks to Ouzbeck’s incredible work at care homes and within the wider community the need for our external support has increased considerably to the point that we would now like to purchase our own vehicle.
Thanks a generous grant from The Racing Foundation we are already well on the way to meeting our target but with your added support we can purchase a lorry that would allow us to continue our much needed outreach work and keep Ouzbeck’s legacy alive.
