Story
We’re nearly 180 years old!
We’ve evolved a lot since the day our organisation was formed on 6 June 1844, but our primary goal has remained the same — to make a positive impact on the local community through health and education.
That's where you can come in. By making a donation to Central YMCA, you can help fund some incredible initiatives, like our exercise referral and healthy lifestyle work.
When someone is diagnosed with a health condition, they're often viewed as a list of symptoms to be resolved or managed, leaving them feeling disempowered and passive. The exercise referral programme changes this by allowing people to take charge of their own health.
We partner with the NHS and local authorities to provide innovative support programmes for those with long-term conditions. They use exercise to advocate for people who are living with a variety of health issues such as diabetes, heart conditions, spinal injuries, strokes, respiratory issues, and neurological difficulties.
So, what's the £30 challenge for? On our birthday this year, we want to give back as much as possible. We’re aiming for the goal of 179 individual donations to our charity, which could help us improve the lives of up to 179 people living with serious health issues. A donation of £30 will get us on our way to achieving that goal.
What’s something you regularly spend £30 on that you could give up to help others?
