Story
Robert and his wife are retired and raising two of their grandchildren. They have been struggling to purchase food as most of their income is used to pay bills and rent. When Robert heard about the opening of the Foodbank's Food Hub at Jordan-Newby, he was thankful for the opportunity to have access to nutritious food on a weekly basis, just minutes from his home. To show his appreciation for the program, he clears the parking lot of leaves every morning Jordan-Newby is open.
"This food bank helps a lot of people," Robert testified as he reflected on the instant popularity of the Jordan-Newby and other programs like it.
In the area we serve, over 132,000 people struggle with hunger. In addition to Food Hubs, the Foodbank facilitates a wide variety programs to reach neighbors located in every corner of our service region: Mobile Pantries, BackPack Program, 757 Mobile Market, Campus-Based Pantries, Izzie's Field and more.
Your support will help folks like Robert and his grandchildren receive the food they need to thrive. For every $1 donated, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore is able to provide 2 meals for our neighbors in need.
Thank you for supporting the Foodbank in leading the effort to eliminate hunger in our community.
