Story
In September 2022, my partner unexpectedly gave birth to our beautiful twin boys at 26 weeks gestation, more than 3 months early. Oliver weighed 880g and Oscar weighed 820g. Heartbreakingly, Oliver didn’t make it to see us, and grew his angel wings on arrival.
Oscar was rushed to Reading hospital for a few hours, before being transferred to the specialist Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at John Radcliffe. In his incubator, a purple butterfly card was placed to make staff and other families aware of our loss and it was then that we learned about the wonderful work that Skye High foundation do.
Oscar was in hospital for a long duration of 122 days in both Oxford and Reading hospital. Through the darkest of days, it was some comfort to know that the purple butterfly was there making others aware our surviving son is a twin. For the rest of our lives, the purple butterfly symbol will remain a huge part of our family.
We have set up this Butterfly fund in honour of Oliver to help raise awareness and support for the charity. So that they can continue to support other families throughout an incredibly difficult time as well as provide help and guidance to hospital staff.
