Story
Oasis provides vital, preventative support to vulnerable families and children in Elmbridge. Our aim is to give families and children the means to rebuild their lives and move forward.
Vulnerable means: anyone affected by abuse, those impacted by mental and/or physical health; those that don't have a voice; those impacted by the cost of living crisis; those that don't have the power to change their lives.
Our location is our biggest challenge. Elmbridge is considered a wealthy area, hiding the fact that real inequality exists, which makes it difficult to highlight the very real need. Families also come to us in the most desperate and horrific situations – sadly, domestic abuse and child abuse can happen in any household, rich or poor. All of this is underpinned by the following statistics:
1 in 3 homes in Surrey are affected by domestic abuse
13,590 children in Surrey are affected by domestic abuse
35,400 children in Surrey suffer from child abuse
13.3% of children in Elmbridge live in poverty
75% of Elmbridge families living in poverty are working families
1 in 10 children in Surrey suffer from poor mental health
The wait for an NHS counsellor can be 18 months or longer
With the cuts in social and children's services, these families would have nowhere to go. Our organisation is sadly relevant and needed with demand increasing for our services over the last year.
Helps us make a positive difference to people's lives.
Help us to help families - adults and children - make positive changes so they can rebuild their lives.
Help us make an impact to those in our community.
