Story
On Friday 08 September, a major earthquake measuring 6.8 magnitude struck Morocco, killing at least 2,900 people with several thousand more injured. The impact has been devastating and is felt across the country, but most severely in the High Atlas Mountains and Marrakesh. The situation is most desperate for people in remote areas cut off by landslides. In accessible areas relief efforts are stepping up with tent camps and distribution of food and water.
We are giving you the opportunity to donate towards relief efforts - and to do this together as the Oasis family, to show our solidarity with communities in Morocco, as well as those here in the UK (and in our schools and local communities) who have friends, family, and loved ones in affected areas.
All money you are able to donate will be distributed to aid and disaster response agencies working on the ground. At the time of writing there is not yet a Disaster Emergency Committee appeal - so we will give funds raised to a DEC member such as Islamic Relief or the Red Cross/Red Crescent who are already present in the region. No money raised from this appeal will go to Oasis.
Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
