Story
Our ambulance staff and volunteers really are 'going the extra mile' to look after us when we need them the most. Can you go the extra mile for them by taking on and conquering the Outrun an Ambulance challenge this year?
It's designed to suit all people and all abilities. You don't need to complete the challenge in one go and you can do it as a team with each individual covering part of the distance (Zoe Larter, Head of Charity).
You can walk, run, cycle, swim, scoot, paddle or ride anything that is self-propelled.
Do it on your own, with friends or as part of a team.
Set your own time-frame for your challenge but aim to complete it within 3 months.
STEP 1: CHOOSE A DISTANCE based on the miles covered in an average shift by ambulances in Dorset . We've even included a BIG target for TEAMS to conquer!
Step 2: DECIDE HOW you want to do your mileage, for example you could run, walk (dog optional), swim, cycle, etc., then set your time-frame (maximum 3 months) and plan to either go it alone or recruit your team.
Step 3: PLAN YOUR FUNDRAISING. Set up your own JustGiving fundraising page and email charity@swast.nhs.uk for your Fundraising Pack.
Step 4: GO FOR IT! Everyone who completes their Outrun an Ambulance challenge and raises at least £1 will receive a special Certificate of Thanks. Those fundraising heroes who complete their challenge and raise £100 or more will also be sent a brilliant medal.
Your donations from the Outrun an Ambulance challenge will be used to provide enhanced facilities and well-being support for crew and personnel operating from Ambulance Stations in Dorset.
