Story
In 2022, an estimated 3,150,000 adults (6% of the population) were affected by hygiene poverty, leading to social isolation, shame, and anxiety for many. A startling statistic from ActionAid revealed that the number of UK women and people who menstruate struggling to afford period products rose from12% to 21% in just one year, with 13% of them missing school, university, or college.
Our Hygiene Hub is located within our weekly Pantry which is open every Tuesday in St Anne’s Church, Overbury Street, Liverpool. It’s a place where individuals can receive the support they need and pick up items to help them when they are struggling. The Pantry and the Hygiene Hub are run by our friendly and dedicated volunteers who greet everyone with a smile and are there to help without judgement or prejudice.
