Our 50th year of partnership with the Naval Postgraduate School was a year of success! Thanks to your generous support we were able to invest $2.63 million into Naval Postgraduate School research initiatives, including $1.2 million of funding for the Human Enhancement Research Group (HERG) to ensure Americas service men and women are healthier, stronger, and more resilient. We also provided over $400,000 of support towards NPS student and alumni programs, including recreational clubs, professional and networking resources, and alumni events.
Because of you, we are seeing tangible results from industry partners like Xerox, Microsoft and TMGcore.
> Xeroxs ElemX printer has been selected by the Commander of Surface Forces to go aboard the USS Tripoli for at-sea trials. Our investment of $92,000 into the Xerox partnership resulted in over $2 million of value to NPS and will have an immeasurable effect on the fleet and force as it transforms logistics on ships and forward operating bases.
> Thanks to the Foundations partnership with Microsoft, Athena Version 1 will be gifted to NPS in Jan. 2022. The web-based interactive portal connects the challenges of the Naval and Joint Forces to student and faculty research to collaborate and deliver solutions to the Department of Defense.
> TMGcore delivered their high-density, compact data center, the OTTO EdgeBox, to the NPS campus, facilitated by the NPS Foundation, leveraging student and faculty researchers to evaluate high-performance computing capabilities that advance mission objectives.
Military personnel face extreme physical and mental demands that require the capacity to overcome the negative physical and psychological effects of operating in challenging field environments. There is a critical need to invest in research that can enhance physical fitness and cognitive performance in our forcepromoting resilience and aiding in mission success. The Human Enhancement Research Group at NPS will ensure the streamlined transfer of military-specific cognitive and physiological research to military training and operations. The HERG will result in prevention of injury, reduced effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and lower suicide rates among active-duty service members and veterans.
The Human Enhancement Research Group continues to be a major priority for the Naval Postgraduate School and the Naval Postgraduate School Foundation. Because of your support, $1.2 million has been raised to fund the infrastructure of the Operational Readiness Research Center, but this is just the beginning of our investment in critical human performance and enhancement research that will place NPS at the epicenter of human enhancement research for the Department of Defense.
