Story

Put your pens down and get ready for the biggest ever show and tell! No Pens Day is a chance for children to have fun raising valuable funds for Speech and Language UK while learning more about the 1.9 million children in the UK who struggle with talking and understanding words.

From showing off their favourite Mega Monster Truck Hot Wheels car or their cuddliest Squishmallow to sharing a special photo, or something they love from home, children in participating schools can get involved in a day of talking and listening activities – beginning with the biggest ever show and tell!

It can even be something imaginary! They don’t have to bring anything in – they could just think of funny story, a hobby or something they want to talk about.

Each child brings in £1, which is donated to Speech and Language UK.

As well as raising much-needed funds for our charity, No Pens Day also raises awareness of the importance of communication skills. Children and their parents find out more about children who struggle with talking and understanding words, and the work Speech and Language UK is doing to support them.

About the charity

At least 1.9 million children in the UK are struggling to talk and understand words.  We give children and young people the skills they need so they aren't left behind. We do this by creating tools for schools and nurseries, giving advice and guidance to families and putting pressure on politicians.
