Story

Each Friday in May, Northamptonshire High Sheriff Amy Crawfurd JP and Northamptonshire Community Foundation CEO Rachel McGrath will take on a 10km trek in a different part of the county.

Amy and Rachel are taking on this challenge to fundraise for the Northamptonshire High Sheriff's Initiative Fund, which awards grants through Northamptonshire Community Foundation to groups working to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, to especially support young people and help improve community safety.

The five 10km treks will cover Corby, Kettering, Northampton, Towcester and Wellingborough. Along each trek, local charities and community groups will join Amy and Rachel to talk about their work to support young people in our county.

Through their fund, the High Sheriff’s aims to bring Northamptonshire residents closer to their communities, to create a more cohesive, stronger and safer society.

The Northamptonshire Hidden Needs Report, published by Northamptonshire Community Foundation in 2023, highlighted the need for funding to be directed towards reducing crime in the county. In 2022, Northamptonshire ranked among the top 20 most dangerous counties, with an overall crime rate of 85 crimes per 1,000 people.

Help Amy and Rachel raise awareness of local charities and community groups the represent the best of our county and raise funds for what are often life changing grant awards to support young people.
