Story
Having a premature or very sick baby in hospital is a very stressful time for parents – and being with them as much as possible is extremely important.
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Singleton Hospital, Swansea, cares for nearly 500 babies a year. Families come here from all over South Wales, not just Swansea Bay, with many living hours away by car and even longer by public transport.
A picture of the housesWe do, however, have five two-bedroom houses in the grounds of the hospital - Cwtsh Clos - where families can stay to be close to their baby or babies, rather than face long and stressful journeys back and forth.
Well-used over the years, all five houses are now in real need of a facelift - particularly their interiors - to ensure they can continue to offer a warm and welcoming home-from-home for parents during this stressful time, and give these families the best possible experience as they bond with and help care for their vulnerable new babies.
We need to raise a total of £160,000 to upgrade Cwtsh Clos. Can you help? Your donations will really count!
