When Fadumo, one of our staff members, got an urgent call about a family completely out of diapers, she called everyone she could think of. No one had extras to give. There was no fund set aside for exactly this need. It took an emergency order and several tense days before diapers finally reached that family's hands.

"Diapers are one of the most common and urgent needs we see," Fadumo says, "yet they can be difficult to access when families are already facing financial hardship."

This happens more than you'd think. About 30% of the children in our programs are navigating developmental delays, and many need diapers well past toddlerhood to reach potty-training milestones. Families with more than one child in diapers often find we can only supply for the one child enrolled with us — leaving parents to find the rest on their own.
