Story
The Neurokinex Step Up Scheme brings a life-changing opportunity of six free rehab sessions to adults and children with a new spinal cord injury. It's an absolute lifeline which enables people to access the world-class Neurokinex facilities and expertise.
The Step Up Scheme costs the Neurokinex Charitable Trust £420 per person to fulfil and it relies on funding for its survival.
Throughout August 2021, Neurokinex clients, families, friends and associates are stepping it up to go the extra mile to raise vital funds to secure the Step Up Scheme for another year.
Many of those taking part enjoyed the Step Up Scheme themselves and know first-hand the physical and psychological value of this early intervention following their injury. They are now giving back to enable others to have this great opportunity.
THE STEP IT UP CHALLENGE
From August 1st-31st, people will work in teams to travel the equivalent distance between one or more Neurokinex sites. From Neurokinex Gatwick to Neurokinex Hemel Hempstead is 65 miles. The distance between Neurokinex Bristol and Neurokinex Hemel Hempstead is 130 miles while just five miles more equates to the distance between Neurokinex Bristol and Neurokinex Gatwick.
Participants can cover the distance however they choose - walking, cycling, swimming and running all count. They can travel in their wheelchair, use a bicycle, tricycle or hand cycle. Most are combining different methods of travel topped up by the distances they cover during their Neurokinex therapy sessions.
MAKE IT COUNT
Neurokinex needs £20,000 to safeguard its Step Up Scheme for another year. Every mile our participants cover and every pound you donate will bring a newly injured person closer to their chance for lifechanging rehabilitation.
