Story
11 million people in the UK are living with neurological conditions; our family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues and others we interact with every day of our lives.
However, there is an almost universal lack of awareness of neuro – across the public, media, government and even the health sector. Data is fragmented, scarce, incomplete and little of it is patient-focused. But it’s vital to explain and demonstrate the changes that patients need for effective care.
As part of its campaign, Neuro UK is seeking to launch an Institute for Neuro Life Science at one of our nation’s leading universities in early 2024, which will measure and define optimised neurological care within our NHS system.
The institute will, for the first time in the UK, focus exclusively on pan-neuro issues to produce academically valid evidence of:
- Real-life, patient experiences and patterns of care;
- The cost and impact of current neuro treatment pathways;
- How best to optimise spending to improve delivery of care in neuro.
We have already begun to make worthwhile strides towards establishing the institute, but we need your support to raise the necessary funds to launch.
