Story
This amazing fundraising challenge was suggested to us by our former ambassador, Nicola's (Nic) mother (Michelle) and sister, Emma. Nic sadly passed away in January 2021.
Nic's family and friends would like to invite you to take part in this challenge by walking 10,000 steps a day, throughout March, to raise vital research for Neuroendocrine Cancer research.
Here is a note from Nic's mother:
I am beyond proud to say that Nicola Evans is my daughter and for 40 years the most fit and healthy young lady. She was strong in body, mind and spirit. She was entrepreneurial, and there really wasnt anything she couldnt turn her hand to and just simply loved life. She was childishly enthusiastic about everything, shining a light on any situation.
Nic was the most amazing Daughter, Mum, Wife, Sister, Aunty, cousin, niece and friend. We would all agree Nic had the most beautiful free soul, to be in her presence would always make you feel good and like you were the only person in the room .
They say the measure of a person is how you leave the mood of a room when youre gone. Nicola always left a room more energised, inspired, confident and motivated for having had her in their presence.
When she left us on 7th Jan 2021 she left us all devastated beyond words. Even those that never actually met her in person were affected by Nics journey. She shared everything in her life very openly in the hope that it would help or inspire others. As much as she left us broken hearted she also left us inspired to make change, to always continue to raise awareness and to help and inspire as many people as we can.
Nics cancer was very rare and very aggressive. The lack of information available and lack of knowledge around things like, how to give more effective pain relief is something that would really have helped Nic and also us as her family caring for her.
Of course we would love to raise money for more research to help find more treatments and one day maybe a cure but first to help those with the disease right now.
We hope you can join us in remembering such an inspirational woman who did so much Neuroendocrine Cancer UK.
