Story
In 2021 we rescued and rehomed a total of 371 animals and so far this year the need for our service is only increasing.
Earlier this year we took in a cat called Arthur and his feline friend Gwen. We instantly fell in love with this sweet pair but it was clear to see that something wasn't quite right with Arthur's eye. After a few trips to the vet, we learned that Arthur had a cancerous tumour in his eye and that it would need to be removed. This is a "last-resort" operation but it was Arthur's only chance at living a happy, pain-free life again so we went ahead and scheduled surgery to remove the tumour and eye ball. Everything went well and after a few weeks of recovery, the wound healed nicely and Arthur was back to his loving, affectionate self - giving everyone a little head rub when he saw them. It didn't take long for Arthur to adjust to life with one eye and the pair have now found a new home for themselves, with their adopters describing them as "the two best cats anyone could have". It was a big decision for us to take on Arthur's care and surgery but we are so pleased we did it as we have given him a second chance at life. Now we want to be able to help more cats like Arthur and Gwen who need us to be there for them when no-one else can be. We have 42 cats in our care at the moment with several on the waiting list for when more space becomes available, so in order to be able to help them all, we need to increase our resources at the centre.
We're currently extending our car park which is a long overdue improvement to double it's current capacity and allow more potential adopters to meet our animals. Once this is complete, there will be an area of disused space that we would like to use as the site for a new cattery. The new unit will have 8 walk-in pens each housing a single or pair of cats, a food preparation kitchen, storm shutters and a canopy system that will protect residents from the elements. This is a huge project and we need all the support we can get, so if you are able to, please donate today to help us help the homeless cats in need of rescue.
