Story

Natalie was a beautiful daughter, a wonderful sister, an incredible friend and an outstanding teacher who really had a huge impact on everyone who came into contact with her.

She truly always put others first and took part in so many fundraising events including a skydive, the 3 Peaks Challenge, a half marathon to name a few as well as growing and donating her hair to the Princess Trust. She grew up with a classically autistic brother, who to this day , with no language, still doesn't understand where his beloved sister has disappeared to. He definitely knows things are different but nobody is sure what he does or doesn't understand - it's so sad, as Natalie would see him frequently.

In September 2018 at the age of 24, Natalie was diagnosed with Melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer which across the world is increasing in cases. She was terrified of that word "Cancer" and terrified of what may lie ahead but she was also determined to stay strong.

Natalie shed so many tears to mum and her partner and chatted with close friends but got on with life, determined to enjoy it and ensuring her students had the best experience of maths! She was constantly worried and frightened but kept her diagnosis private and never complained. On more than one occasion she said "why should it be someone else and not me"?

She was so very brave and a huge inspiration.

The cancer was always there but in 2022 reappeared, aggressively spreading quickly to her liver and her brain. She started immunotherapy but it didn't work and with a week's notice, although Natalie had fought hard for 4 years, she lost the fight, aged just 28 years. She had still been teaching until the Friday before she was admitted to hospital. She didn't cry, complain or get angry but accepted her fate, her only request being that she be remembered.

Since passing, her friends and family have raised approx. £20K for other charities including Melanoma UK and Cancer Research UK as well as the additional funds for RMH.

Going forward we will concentrate on this page and hope to raise more vital funds in the future whilst keeping the memory alive of our incredible Natalie, aka Lil Bug.

Natalie's ultimate bucket list wish was to travel to the seven continents, seeing the many landmarks along the way. In her memory 'Bobby the bear' will be taking on this challenge.
