Story
Mud is our biggest battle every winter. Areas with high levels of foot traffic end up a sloppy, muddy mess...gateways, in front of field shelters, around food troughs and hay feeders. Our animals hate the mud as much as we do and standing in mud can cause foot problems for them. We move feeders regularly to stop this happening, but doing so creates more ground that needs to recover come spring and unfortunately we cannot move field shelters and gateways, so the mud is just a permanent feature of winters here, as you can see...
We have been saying for years that we want to find a way to combat the winter mud, and we have found the solution in Mudcontrol slabs...we just need your help to make it happen!
Mudcontrol slabs are environmentally friendly and can be laid quickly and easily with minimal ground preparation (meaning we can do this ourselves!). The slabs interlock to provide a solid area for animals to stand on, as seen in the photos below, taken from customer testimonials (this is what we want to achieve!).
The slabs have a high weight-bearing capacity of up to 60 tonnes! Meaning we would easily be able to drive our tractor onto them, which is important if we are going to use them in gateways and around hay feeders!
And the grass will grow through them in the spring/summer, meaning we wont lose grazing for the animals!
Please check out the Mudcontrol website/social media pages to see the customer testimonials, you will understand why we feel this investment is worthwhile! Mudcontrol Testimonials
We need to raise £5,000 to be able to buy enough slabs for all of the areas across the sanctuary that are problematic for the animals in the winter months.
£6.60 would buy one slab, £26.40 would buy one square metre, £132 would buy five square metres.
We cannot do this without your help, so please donate and share this campaign, we simply want to make winter more bearable for our animals! Thank you!
