Story
Millie is aged 1 from Redhill. Our Princess Warrior was born at 29 weeks with her twin sister Macy. They were both in NICU getting stronger every day to come home to where their two older siblings were eagerly waiting. Unfortunately, at 8 weeks old, Millie required a simple procedure due to Hydrocephalus which went ahead at St George's hospital Jan 2022. The operation went well and she started to recover.
A few days later Millie became extremely unwell and they found she had caught an E.Coli infection from the hospital which had travelled to her brain. The E.Coli caused meningitis and cranial cysts as her tiny body tried to fight off the infection. She continued to fight for 5 months in and out of ICU and HDU inspiring our family everyday to keep going.
In her first 1.5years of life Millie has had 21 brain surgeries, 21 times putting her life at risk, 21 times risking new infections and 21 times of Millie being a Princess Warrior. Due to brain damage from the E.Coli infection she has been left with visual impairment, Cerebral Palsy and cranial cysts. As you can imagine this has been tough on our family watching our healthy baby girl deteriorate in front of us.
Millie deserves the world and anything it will take to get a small percent of what she would of had without the infection. This will involve physio, ground breaking therapies, adjusted everyday living, sensory and medical equipment and possible overseas corrective surgeries. The NHS has been fantastic so far in her journey however most cannot be accessed in this country or via the NHS. Unfortunately, home therapy, conductive education sessions, and NHS physiotherapy alone are just not enough to get Millie moving.
Millie's Missions are to see the world, to crawl, roll and walk like her Twin, to have access to frequent Hydrotherapy and ABR Therapy Courses.
