Our Saviour's is in partnership with the Lutheran Church of Mozambique to connect and support the amazing things that the Lutheran church is doing there! We celebrate the church's commitment to Advocacy, Hunger Issues, and Education.
Advocacy - Vida Humana is based in Chimoio, Mozambique and its volunteers provide care and support to those living with HIV/AIDS. The 20+ volunteer organization serves approximately 100 patients with home visits occurring about 3 times per week. The activists provide spiritual support, ensure medications are taken properly, accompany patients to visit the doctor, facilitate malaria abatement activities, provide food from the farm Vida Humana maintains, and other basic needs. Through their hands-on Christian love, patients are discovering a faith of hope and unconditional love in a community that often ostracizes them for a disease may have been contracted through a spouse or parent. Patients that are in remission have become volunteers too. Our goal is to support the Lutheran Church of Mozambique's mission to love and advocate for all!
Hunger Issues - Give us this day our daily bread, we pray. Hunger is an issue in Mozambique. Especially for those struggling with HIV/AIDS. Our church is committed to seeing people be fed, loved, and cared for. We send a food called E'Pap, which is similar to a protein shake and provides daily nutrition to children and adults.
Education - The Lutheran Church in Chimoio is generous with their space. When people from Zimbabwe immigrated to Mozambique, many of their children lost the ability to attend school because of language barriers. The local church responded to this need by opening their doors to the teachers and any child who wanted to attend. Our support of this school is extremely important because it is currently led by volunteer teachers and there is no cost for the students.
God is doing amazing things in Mozambique, and it is an honor for our congregation to walk beside them and support them!
