Story

Being active is important for maintaining good mental health. That’s why, during Mental Health Awareness Week: 13–19 May, we’re asking you to make time to move for mental health and raise vital funds for West Kent Mind.

Here’s a few suggestions to inspire your Move for Mental Health fundraising adventure:

• Go for a leisurely stroll with friends and make an online donation.

• Coordinate a pay-to-ride group cycle.

• Host a sports day for friends at your local park for a suggested donation.

• Organise a fun-run for £5 entry per person.

• Arrange a sponsored cycle, football match or swim at your local sports club.

• Ask your colleagues to donate and take part in an 80s inspired aerobics class!

If you're organising a fundraising event for Move for Mental Health, please remember to share it on social media using #MoveForWKM.

How your donations could make a difference to West Kent Mind:

• £5 could pay for one of our dedicated team to answer the phone and support someone who is facing a mental health challenge.

• £10 could pay for wildflower seeds and gardening equipment for our wonderful Mindful Gardening group.

• £15 could pay for our volunteer induction process. We work hand in hand with a passionate group of volunteers, their commitment and support helps our programmes to thrive.

• £25 could pay for one of our professional assessors to have a telephone call with a person experiencing domestic abuse.

• £45 could help to welcome parents and carers into a safe space, supported by an expert wellbeing worker.

• £100 could help pay for several counselling sessions to support a vulnerable person experiencing domestic abuse, helping them recover and regain their confidence.

Events like Move for Mental Health allow us to raise crucial funds to continue our work supporting those in the local community with mental health problems. Ensuring they get well, stay well and thrive with positive mental wellbeing.

So, put your best foot forward, lace up your trainers and Move for Mental Health.
