Story

Mosaic Clubhouse is an award-winning Lambeth based charity that has been successfully supporting people with their mental health recovery since 1994. We provide opportunities for people in Lambeth with severe and often enduring mental health problems, to regain the confidence and skills necessary to lead productive and satisfying lives.

During this unprecedented time, more people than ever before are reaching out to us for help. With funds from this campaign, we can continue to offer our free, award-winning services to these vulnerable individuals facing uncertainty and isolation.

Our beneficiaries need your help

The Coronavirus pandemic is increasingly affecting the most vulnerable in our communities with many finding it much harder to access the support they need. With many mental health support organisations being forced to scale back operations as a result of Covid-19, we continue to be proactive in developing our offer and responding to the increasing needs of people affected by mental health problems new and existing at this time of crisis.

Since the start of the pandemic we have supported over 500 members on a daily basis all whilst adapting our way of working to continue providing support during lockdown, mastering Zoom and introducing blended service delivery. Most of those we work with live a daunting and uncertain future, so its critical that any offer of support we make is one that we can commit to. With your help we can ensure our promise is a commitment.

I am just so grateful that Mosaic remains active during the lock-down and has found different ways to reach out and engage its members, without Mosaic I dread to think what would have happened to my mental health.

How you can help

Due to the pandemic food security has become a major issue amongst our members, with some going without food for multiple days at a time. Many of our members and the wider community have experienced delays to their benefits and longer waits to access foodbanks which has often left them without food for multiple days at a time. This, combined with an inability to shop online and a lack of local support networks is having devastating effects on their mental and physical wellbeing.

For those that struggle accessing food, we often find that their engagement in our work and with other services decreases. As their mental health worsens many end up in crisis situations and can present themselves to overstretched A&E departments which is not always a suitable environment and can often escalate the situation.

To help those that are struggling, we started giving our café supplies to those who needed it, then buying in extra tinned and long life food as the pandemic continued. During the second national lockdown we also used our Christmas party budget to continue to buy supplies so we could deliver food parcels to members who needed them. We are doing all we can to help our members access food and essential supplies but as winter approaches the challenge is only getting greater.

Donating to our campaign will help us continue providing nutritious emergency food parcels to our most vulnerable members ensuring that food insecurity doesn't derail their recovery.

Since the Covid-19 outbreak we have seen an increase in the number of young people and adults requiring specialist and greater support. This can vary from very complex mental health needs, to others who need guidance to navigate the complicated landscape of housing and benefits.

Mosaic Clubhouse uses a powerful internationally recognised rehabilitation model which is reliant on positive, enabling relationships and side by side working between staff and members to co-deliver our service. Through this model we provide opportunities for people in Lambeth who have been socially and vocationally displaced by mental illness to regain the confidence and skill necessary to lead productive and satisfying lives. Each year we support over 500 members by providing range of support and social opportunities to match their needs and aspirations and promoting access to real educational and employment opportunities.

Your donation will help will strengthen our support offer helping us respond to the increasing needs of people suffering severe and enduring mental health problems and strengthening our capacity to provide support at every level: from the provision of information and resource to providing care for those in crisis.
