Story
Action For Humanity has launched a £5 million appeal in response to the recent earthquake in Morocco and are on the ground delivering emergency aid to all those affected by the devastating earthquake.
Following one of the most powerful earthquakes in recent years, which struck at 11:11 pm on September 8th, the death toll has already reached a grim figure of at least 2,000, with the potential for this number to increase as days pass. Thousands have also been injured.
Action for Humanity has mobilised a specialised emergency response team to provide immediate aid in Marrakech and surrounding affected areas. While we are still in the early stages of our response to this humanitarian crisis, Action For Humanity’s emergency response team will conduct a needs assessment of the current situation and begin orchestrating a response over the coming hours.
The specialised team responding to the emergency are the same responders of the Türkiye-Syria earthquake, which occurred in a February early this year. It is through this lived experience of urgent emergency contexts that Action for Humanity are hoping to contribute an impactful and unique perspective in recovery efforts in Morocco.
We at Action For Humanity are heartbroken to see the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Morocco which has so far taken the lives of over 800 people. We stand in solidarity with the people of Morocco as they begin their recovery. We are closely monitoring the situation and assessing the needs from the ground. We stand ready to support in providing any assistance if requested." - Action For Humanity CEO Othman Moqbel.
