Story
On Monday 2nd May, The Big Walk will see participants complete a 19-mile charity hike, from Moors training ground in Studley to the ARMCO Arena. Starting at 6am, a hardened group of walkers, led by Moors Chairman Darryl Eales will lace up their shoes and embark on an expedition with a difference.
All in the name of raising money for the clubs charity the Solihull Moors Foundation, the walk will endeavour to capture a true community spirit and bring together people from all walks of life.
Those taking part will be set a target of £50. Hit that magic number and recieve free entry to the Bromley game.
Of course, we invite you to eclipse that, and who knows, there may even be a special prize for the biggest fundraiser!
And for those wanting to enhance their experience, why not donate £25 to don the famous Soli the Moorkat suit and walk a mile in Soli's shoes!!
As Darryl explains the walk is just the beginning, it's more than just a one-off journey, and epitomises the continuing Moors story, one which sees the club strive to better the lives of those in their community.
You might ask, why? For us, its simple. The Solihull Moors Foundation are doing amazing things within the local community and this event will help tackle inequality one step at a time.
The Foundation endeavours to ensure no stone is unturned when it comes to helping those in the community and will come to the aid of whoever is in need. All areas are covered and new projects are continually getting underway.
All monies raised will go to projects such as disability, women in sport, mental health and education we would love it if you could all, in some capacity, get involved and help fundraise.
Darryl encourages all to get involved, people can pick up the walk at any time, thats the beauty of the event, it knows no boundaries.
There are no set rules for participating in the event, we just want you to spread the word and bring numbers to it. There might be a hard core group (including myself!) who decide to walk the full 19 miles, but the checkpoints mentioned above can all be legs to start from.
The end of the walk promises to be a big celebration with the plan to arrive at the ARMCO Arena for 1pm, a couple of hours before Moors entertain Bromley on that very same day.
What better way to take a well-deserved rest, than to sit down and enjoy a cracking game of football at the Moors!
So what are you waiting for, create your JustGiving account today and take the first steps in making it a fundraiser to remember It really is a case of the Moor, the Merrier!
