Story
Paul Clark and 14 friends are undertaking a 3 day cycling challenge in the French Alps commencing on Thursday 18th May.
Paul will be taking all of the bikes, and on his journey, will be making a quick stop to ride up Alpe dHuez, a famous climb on the Tour de France, a 13,8km long trek with 1800m of climbing with 21 switchbacks.
He will then be meeting the group at the base of Mont Ventoux, where approximately 8 of the group will attempt to climb Club des Cinglés du Mont Ventoux. The Cinglé is 137km with an incline difference of 4400m. They will attempt the climb and descent of the Mont-Ventoux by all 3 main roads in 24 hours day, the order of the routes will be left up to the cyclists.
Paul Clark and Paul Scott will be undertaking this challenge 4 times, the last one on gravel track, which is even harder; the Galérien, 183km with an incline difference of 6020m. They will attempt the climb and descent of the Mont-Ventoux by all 3 main roads in 24 hours.
The rest of the group will be taking on their own personal goals by attempting this once. The climb alone is 21.4km long with an elevation gain of 1912m.
The entire challenge is being self-funded by the team so that they can raise as much as possible for The Chartwell Cancer Trust.
