Story
Liverpool Womens Hospital Charity is working with consultant Dr Paula Briggs to fundraise for a Mona Lisa Laser, to enable research trials to commence in Summer 2022. We aim to introduce the laser to Liverpool Womens Hospital to make a difference to the lives of female cancer survivors and all women who are unable to have HRT treatments. The laser effectively treats the after effects of menopause and invasive cancer treatments and will change womens lives, allowing them to regain confidence and comfort.
Vaginal atrophy is a painful condition where a lack of oestrogen on the tissue quality in the vulva, vagina, urethra and bladder causes extremely uncomfortable and painful symptoms such as vaginal itching, burning, dryness, pain during sexual intercourse and recurrent urinary tract infections.
The Mona Lisa laser will provide women with the chance to recover their previous lives. It will also aide mental health wellbeing after invasive treatment for cancer of the womb or breast. The laser will play a huge part in rebuilding their confidence and help them recover from the emotional distress of the cancer treatment. By reversing the effects of the treatment the Laser will help women reconnect with their life prior to having cancer. At LWH we put our patients first and strive to provide the best care support and treatment possible. Our clinician Dr Paula Briggs has over 2 years experience of this type of laser treatment and has made a difference to many womens lives.
We would be so grateful for any support you can give to the campaign to purchase the Mona Lisa Laser to allow clinical trials to commence at Liverpool Women's Hospital, and help transform the lives of so many women in Liverpool and across the North West.
