Story
In the 1960s the people of Faversham came together to build an outdoor swimming pool in the heart of the town. They raised funds by collecting a mile of pennies - quite a sum in 1964!
Over half a century later, Faversham Pools charity has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic - we were closed for an extended period with no income. It's affected our ability to raise funds to continue with our ambitious and exciting plans for our future.
You've told us what you want to see at Faversham Pools. And we've listened.
We want to invest in our facilities. We'll make our changing area more accessible for swimmers with disabilities, families, and older swimmers.
We want to invest in our infrastructure, strengthening our behind-the-scenes operation to modernise and become more energy efficient.
And we want to invest in our users, with new sessions, a more flexible approach to programming, and a revamped Swim School to get as many children as possible learning the crucial life skill of swimming.
Thanks to supporters like you, this important work has already started. We've raised £200k to replace our inefficient and unreliable water heating system. We've kept the lido open through the winter for the first time, received grants to offer disabled access into both pools, and launched Faversham Swim School.
But there is so much more we want to offer you. We need your help, because the fact is that we cannot proceed with our ambitious plans without funding.
We're creating a virtual mile of £1 coins almost £70,000 in total to secure our future. Your small donation of £1 or more will help keep swimming at the heart of this community. Thank you.
