Story
Few people live a life as helpful as Mike Wise did, leaving such a legacy to their community.
Taking the idea of Dorset children's nurse Julia Perks and founding the charity in her name after Julia's untimely death, Mike raised the funds and established our community nursing service and then the Julia's House Dorset children's hospice. Later the charity would build a further hospice for children in Wiltshire.
Mike was also founder of the Courtyard Centre arts & crafts hub in Lytchett Minster; a longstanding Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow; Governor of Longspee Special School; Chair of Poole Council for Voluntary Service; District Councillor; and Non-Executive Director of SE Dorset Primary Care Trust.
Above all, Mike was a humanitarian, who believed in and practised the kindness of charity.
The picture you see here is of Mike after being awarded his MBE at Buckingham Palace in 2007 for his work for Julia's House.
At his family's request we are establishing this collection in his memory. Mike was our Founder Chairman, our Life President, our inspiration, and our friend.
Thank you.
