Story

Mike Thorpe, for many years the Chief Officer of The Broughton Trust, sadly passed away in January 2025 after a short illness.

Mike played a pivotal role in supporting Salford’s most disadvantaged communities and has made a lasting impact across the city. He was a fearless advocate for those most in need and was greatly respected by all those who worked alongside him.

The Broughton Trust is a Salford-based charity aimed at reducing poverty and improving opportunities for people in Salford. Under Mike’s leadership, the charity has provided vital services including employment support, youth work and community development projects, helping transform the lives of over 1,000 people every year.

All monies raised in memory of Mike through this Salford4Good campaign will be donated to local charities and community organisations undertaking important work across Salford that reflect Mike’s passion for championing opportunity and reducing inequality.
