Story
Throughout this October, seventeen members of the Weldmar Hospicecare team will be taking on a double fundraising challenge. The Mighty 17 will not only be banishing the booze, but will also all be completing their own fifty mile challenge either walking, running, cycling, or swimming this distance over the course of the month.
Its the brainchild of Housekeeping Supervisor Mish Holmes, who agreed with Senior Sister Emma Mills that they would both do a Sober October in aid of Weldmar, but found herself wanting to take it to take it up a notch. The going sober part of it was all sorted, but I found myself awake at 3am wondering how we could make it more of a challenge. Ive seen lots of people doing their own distance challenges for charities on social media, so spoke to Emma about it as soon as she arrived at work the next morning. Within three hours, we had another fifteen colleagues signed up!
