Story

Metal Merch Day - 18th October 2024

What is Metal Merch Day?

Metal Merch Day is Metal For Good’s annual fundraising campaign. We are asking rockers and metal-heads across the UK to don their favourite merch in support of Metal For Good.

No genre is off limits – all merch from any genre is welcome!

What is Metal For Good?

Metal For Good is a registered charity that uses the positive values of rock, metal and other alternative subcultures to make a positive difference in communities.

We think that the rock and metal community is truly unique - we’re brought together through a shared love of great music and a sense of belonging. Through this shared identity, lives are often improved; we feel we are part of something bigger, that we are accepted, and that someone has ultimately ‘got our back’.

We also think music is transformational. Whether playing, listening or watching live: it can be an escape when you are struggling, give you a voice when you feel unheard, bring communities together, and give you the confidence and skills to thrive.

We provide grants to community organisations that use music to end inequalities, improve mental and physical wellbeing, and provide life-changing opportunities for young people. Previous projects we have funded include Gig Buddies West Sussex, Heavy Metal Therapy and The Music Works.

Money raised through Metal Merch Day will be used to fund this vital work.

How can I get involved?

Wear your metal merch on 18th October and make a small donation (suggested £5) to Metal For Good. We encourage you to post photos of you wearing your merch to social media, using the hashtag #MetalMerchDay.

If you have any old merch you no longer want, sell it on eBay, or your preferred platform, and donate some or all of the proceeds to Metal For Good.

Organise an event, like a band night or rock and metal quiz night, in your area. Ask attendees to make a small donation on the night.

Ask your employer to let employees wear metal merch at work for a small donation.

Buy the official t-shirt from the Metal For Good website.

Follow us on social media (@metalforgood) for latest updates, collaborations and exclusive auction opportunities during the two weeks around the day.
