Visit the charity's profileFollowing strong winds and heavy rainfall over several days, a significant portion of the Masjid roof sustained devastating damage as a strong gust of wind it blew off in the early hours of Monday 21st February. The continued rainfall on the already damaged roof has caused further damage to internal structures.
We would like to start by thanking all those who have supported our emergency appeal.
Unfortunately, we have received some more devastating news. During the initial inspection of the damage, it was identified that the remaining roof which is over 60 years old was vulnerable. An additional survey of this roof found the entire Masjid roof is at the end of its working life and needing urgent replacement. The roof survey report can be viewed at: MES Roof Report
The total cost of the roof project will now be *£160k*.
