This Just Giving page has been set up in memory of Mervyn Peart who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 15 September 2023.

Growing up in North Norfolk, studying for his degrees in Manchester and Exeter, teaching at Hong Kong University and, finally, enjoying his retirement in North West Scotland, Mervyn has touched the lives of many with his genuine thoughtfulness and kindness. He will be very greatly missed.

According to his wishes, there will not be a funeral service for Mervyn. Instead, we ask you to find your own special occasion or moment to remember him and to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, or if you would like to mark his passing in a positive way, we would kindly ask you to a make a donation to charity. We would ask you to support The Glacier Trust, a charity which works towards community-based climate adaptation in Nepal, a country where Mervyn spent many happy times.
