Mindful Miles for Mental Health: A 7-Day SEL Step Challenge During Awareness Week
Mental Health Awareness Week (May 13 - 19) is all about starting conversations and taking action to improve mental wellbeing. This year, why not take a step towards a healthier mind and body – literally!
Get ready to walk your way to a happier, healthier you during Mental Health Awareness Week (May 13 - 19)! South East London Mind is inviting you to join their #MindfulMiles Challenge, a 7-day step challenge designed to boost your mood, body, and community spirit – all while supporting a vital cause.
Here's why you should join the #20MindfulMiles Challenge:
• Move at your own pace: This challenge is designed for everyone, from seasoned walkers to those just starting out. Whether you run, jog, or take a leisurely stroll, every step counts towards the 20-mile goal (that's just over 6,000 steps a day!).
• Move your body, move your mind: Did you know walking is a fantastic mood booster? It can reduce stress, anxiety, and even improve your sleep. Plus, those daily walks can be a great way to clear your head and boost your self-esteem.
• Support a vital cause: Our Mental health services in Lambeth and Southwark are facing a surge in demand, with waiting lists for our Black River counselling reaching over 150 people. All proceeds from the #20MindfulMiles Challenge go directly to support these vital local services, helping to reduce waiting times and get people the help they need.
Join us in this challenge or create your own and help us help more local people with mental health support.
