Story
On Sunday the 26th May, I'm running the Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise money for Schools of Sanctuary. Every penny will ensure even more schools are places of welcome and support for children seeking sanctuary.
Hello, my name is Megan and I believe that wherever we come from, we all have a right to feel safe. That's why I'm running the Edinburgh half-marathon to raise money for Schools of Sanctuary - this is so that even more schools can be places of welcome and support for children seeking sanctuary.
I lead this work with schools at City of Sanctuary UK so I know firsthand that the brutal journeys children seeking sanctuary face are far longer and more challenging than the 13 miles I'll be doing. I believe that when these children arrive here in the UK, they should feel safe in school and be treated with kindness and compassion.
Every penny you donate will ensure more children who have been forced to flee, feel safe, welcomed and belonging.
Are you a School of Sanctuary or working towards the award?
If you're from a school in our Schools of Sanctuary network, I know you share my beliefs - so on Friday the 24th I'm asking you and your school community to join me and for every one of you to run a mile.
There are more than 425 awarded Schools of Sanctuary with another 400 working towards - so if everyone of you can join me and run, walk, skip or crawl one mile and donate just £1 per person, think about how much we could raise.
If you're a school, sign up to be part of this action [sign up here: https://forms.gle/xbU1gwBf4qzDSyfL9] and get access to updates of my training and some resources and activities to help make this action more meaningful for your students. Thank you so much for running with me and helping to grow our network of schools that are just like yours!
