Mediterra Bakehouse & Cafés pledged to raise $10,000 to benefit the UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation Free Care Fund. Every dollar you donate here will go directly to a family in need of financial support for their loved one's care.

At Mediterra, our connection to UPMC Children's Hospital is a personal one. Just before Christmas in 2018, one of our son's, Konstantinos Ambeliotis, came into the world ahead of schedule. Shortly after making his debut, he was sent to the NICU due to irregular breathing.

After a week in the hospital, he was finally sent home with us, only to be readmitted to Children's shortly after, due to a bone infection. Another week later, he was transferred to the Children's Home of Pittsburgh and Lemieux Family Center, where he spent his first Christmas.

Although the first few months of his life were scary and uncertain, we knew from our first night there that we were in good hands at Children's Hospital.

If you're familiar with Mediterra, you're also likely aware of how much we value family, including the eleven children we share. Our goal is to raise funds to help ensure UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is able to provide expert, compassionate care for sick children locally, regionally, and globally - just like they did for Konstantinos.
