In a world filled with distrust and division, we support local media ensuring people on the frontlines of conflict and crisis have access to trustworthy information. Our work builds stronger democracies, a more habitable planet and more inclusive and equal societies. Join the fight – support us now

Story

In a crisis, only media has the power to reach millions of people - fast - with life-saving information.

When torrential rains and flooding threaten vulnerable communities, only media can quickly share information that helps protect their homes and families. Media has the power to share stories and ideas to help people adapt their lives and livelihoods to the fast-changing climate.

For 25 years, our work with local broadcasters has been reaching millions of people around the world to support them through crisis.

We need your help. Donate now, and support our work with local broadcasters to transform communities with the power of information they can trust, and stories and ideas that inspire action.

£10 could buy a SIM card and data to support a local journalist to report from the field, sharing information that communities need most

£30 could buy a solar-powered, wind-up radio to supply a community with critical information in crisis

£100 could pay for a training course for a local broadcaster to help them check sources and information effectively

BBC Media Action’s support stretches far beyond Kenya, with a global reach and projects in 30 countries. Through our work, we are training community radio stations and journalists to deliver trusted, often life-saving information and content – including about weather and climate.

We need your help to reach more community broadcasters around the world - so they can strengthen and empower their communities to adapt to the growing threats.
