Story
Fermanagh Friends of Marie Curie were formed approximately 30 years ago. The committee is made up of 9 members, two of whom have been part of the group since the start. In normal times we meet in Enniskillen on the 1st Monday of every month apart from August & December.
Our Fundraising Group covers all of Fermanagh and we get fantastic support all across the County from small events to much larger ones. We support the Irvinestown Truck Festival each July, now in its 20th year.
As a group, we look after collection tins in many businesses across the County, along with running street collections in March for our Great Daffodil Appeal and in September.
During this pandemic a lot of events have been cancelled but we turned to social media to raise funds through virtual walking challenges. Walk to Remember took on a very different style this year and was very well supported by Fermanagh families, who found it much more adaptable and convenient to walk in their own chosen time, still raising great amounts for our charity.
We attend many events organised by families & organisations in the area to thank them for their support, and to inform them of the work of our very dedicated and caring Marie Curie nurses. We could not do any of this without the help and support of the public and our volunteers."
Since 2011, Marie Curie has set up Fundraising Groups across the UK to help raise money and awareness for the charity in their local area. They are a vital part of the Marie Curie family, raising a fantastic amount each year to help ensure we can keep supporting people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones. This is through our wide range of services including hospices, nursing, Information and Support services and research.
