Maternity Africa is based in Arusha Region, Northern Tanzania. It seeks to improve maternal health outcomes for vulnerable and marginalised women and girls of childbearing age living in poverty across rural Tanzania.

Maternity Africas base at Kivulini Maternity Centre strives towards being a centre of excellence that also strengthens the knowledge, skills, experience, competence and confidence of national health care workers.

Action inculdes:

Comprehensive maternity care

Obstetric fistula and birth injury operations

Outreach to promote awareness of fistula and identify new patients

Specialist neonatal care for preterm and low birth weight babies

Ongoing training for newly recruited midwives

Training of midwives from other areas of Tanzania
