Story

St Mary's Matching, as the anglican parish church in Matching, has been serving the local community for the last 900 years. Owing to extreme weather conditions we have several significant problems with the ancient fabric of this beautiful building. Read on to help us...

Help us restore the building so it can continue to serve our community for the next 900 years as an oasis of peace, a place of worship and community life as well as a place where life event memories are made and treasured.

You can see from the photo gallery that work is already underway to repair St Edmund's Chapel as the wall was coming away from the roof with a 5 inch gap. This will involve tying in at roof level after demolishing and rebuilding part of the wall to strengthen it.

We also need to make repairs to the bell tower which has let in water ingress during extreme weather as well as undertake reroofing of parts of the roof including the chancel.
