I am Sky’s the Limit Fund’s (STLF) Executive Director and hiking is my passion, my medicine, and my therapy. A level of clarity comes to me when I am on the trail. You can ask anyone on staff at STLF and they will confirm my focus is better, my disposition is brighter, and I think more clearly after time spent in the wilderness.
When a friend approached me about hiking Mt. Whitney and the John Muir Trail (JMT), I had a couple of thoughts. First, I’m not sure I have time to do the entire JMT (but I can do a segment) and secondly, I’m going to dedicate the hike to all the brave and committed families that have been in crisis and found the gift of wilderness to help their adolescent, young adult, and the family system they belong to. It's not cheap, but with support from STLF, this gift can become a reality.
Sky’s the Limit Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to making wilderness therapy accessible to families that cannot afford it and providing coaching services to guide families during the transition home. I created this page as an opportunity to come together as a community to support youth and young adults struggling with mental health and addiction challenges and raise awareness about the benefits of taking therapy outdoors.
So, I will hike with all of you in my heart and in my mind. You are the heroes and the warriors that make a difference! Together, we can educate others and stress the importance of making this transformative experience accessible to all youth and young adults in crisis. - Mary Davidson, STLF Executive Director
