Story

Mark Arjoo is a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Ashby de la Zouch and heard about Empowering Kids in Kenya (formerly Little Faces Schools, Kenya) and decided that he would like to raise funds to give these children a chance in life. They all come from exceedingly poor and vulnerable families in the Mombasa suburb of Bombolulu and surrounding area. This is a renowned slum area and the children live in abject poverty. Yet their parents/guardians are determined that they should go to secondary school to break the cycle of poverty and be given the chance to realise their dreams. Every child at Bombolulu Secondary School is 100% sponsored as the families have no resources for education. Even providing food is a daily struggle. There is no government support whatsoever at secondary school.

We would like to thank Mark sincerely for taking on this challenge in order to provide a safe and top-class education for many children who would otherwise be out of the education system totally. Once we have raised the funding to build the next floor of the school, many more children will be given this opportunity of a lifetime. This fundraising is to help make the next floor with four more classrooms a reality.

A sincere thank you to everyone who supports Mark in this challenge.
