Story
As reported by the BBC, a new strain of Malaria is rapidly spreading in East Africa, and is among the Child of Hope pupils NOW in all our schools. We urgently need funds to provide tests, nets and medication.
This new strain is resistant to the cheapest drug and the cost of treatment has escalated. The number of cases in our schools has recently more than doubled, and we want to act quickly to prevent this deadly disease from claiming any of our children's lives.
The children are tested and given a tablet when they first present with symptoms. If this fails to help, they are given a more expensive injection. Treatments are all dispensed at the schools by our qualified nurse to ensure the students finish the course of treatment.
The most effective treatment is prevention, so we want to give out mosquito nets to the most vulnerable and those who get malaria frequently.
£5.25 will buy one mosquito net and 4 tablets.
£10.50 will buy one mosquito net and a lifesaving injection.
£16 will buy one box of 50 tests (our nurse is currently getting through a box a week).
Any excess funds raised will go towards the ongoing treatment of malaria and healthcare for our students.
