Story

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic just over a year ago, we have experienced what is arguably the most difficult and painful period in a generation. The pandemic has completely changed our lives and the boundaries of what we once considered 'normal' have changed beyond recognition. Not only has the pandemic affected workplaces, schools and businesses etc but places of worship have also been significantly impacted. As we head towards the summer of 2021 and with the lockdown restrictions and Covid guidelines set to disappear for good, sadly the effects of the pandemic on our lives will long be felt even after these restrictions are lifted.

Operating the Masjid during this time has been extremely difficult and challenging given we have had to deal with multiple lockdowns, closures, increased Covid restrictions and social distancing measures which have forced the Masjid to operate at a vastly reduced capacity. This, in turn, has meant a hugely significant drop in the Masjid's income and donations.

As the social distancing measures and reduced capacity are still in place at the time of entering the blessed month of Ramadhan in 2021, we face missing out on the most important and busiest time of year for donations; donations that are vital in supporting our community and the work that we do throughout the year.

With your help, we need to raise these funds urgently to continue our building work and our community events and activities so that we are ready for when the lockdown restrictions are finally lifted. Therefore, we appeal to each and every one of you to take advantage of this blessed month, where deeds are multiplied many times over, and to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in donating generously throughout the month of Ramadhan.

Narrated Ibn Abbas: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most generous person, and he used to become more so (generous) particularly in the month of Ramadhan, more generous than the fast wind in doing good. [Saheeh al-Bukhari]

We pray Allah accepts your donations and rewards you with a handsome reward, in this life and the next, for every single penny you donate, Aameen.
